Why BH Restoration Ministries

BHRM was founded out of a core belief in God’s transformational power and a desire to see university students walking in their true, God-given identities (1 Corinthians 3:18). Guided by Brett and Holly's own healing journeys and in-depth experience working with hundreds of young adults, BHRM provides courses and seminars that address areas of relational and sexual brokenness. Centered around the Restoring Wholeness curriculum, the ministry team creates safe spaces for students to be vulnerable with their struggles and experience the compassionate, healing love of the Heavenly Father.

The Crisis
Facing Students Today

Every year thousands of young people set foot on university campuses for one primary reason- to find out who they are and where they belong. Outside of their home life, it is the second most significant place to discover one’s identity. And while they are there, hundreds of voices are vying for the opportunity to shape and mold these young minds.

On the surface, these students will project confidence, pride, self-determination, and youthful energy to bring change to the world. But at a closer look, most have hearts that are broken, maimed, crippled, wrecked, crushed, and even shattered. Disappointments, hurts, and events have caused many of their hearts to break.

On top of that, many are held captive in bondages from which they cannot break free by willpower alone. These bondages may manifest themselves in a wide spectrum of problems such as people pleasing; drivenness; eating disorders; sexual compulsivity; or persistent emotional patterns of anxiety, fear, anger, or depression.

As a result, students graduate equipped to take on a career, but are ill-equipped to handle the unsettling brokenness that remains in the background of their souls that will inevitably affect their identities for life.

This crisis of the heart presents an opportunity. And we are called to go with your help.

How we are taking action

Teaching

We provide weekly teachings that delve into the mystery of where our identities originate and why they often are, the biggest driver to our overall well-being; or the very thing that compromised our well-being. We explore how our identity has been hijacked by the world, family and brokenness and therefore in great need of the Holy Spirit to speak truth about their true identity in Christ.

1-1 Sessions

We provide a compassionate, safe space where students and leaders can process the broken, wounded places in their identity, find healing, and receive Christ-centered encouragement.

Resources

We offer added support to Chi Alpha leaders by providing workshops, training, and one on one support in order to further equip them in ministering God’s gift of healing to students.

Who we are

The core passage that defines BH Restoration Ministries is Isaiah 61:1 that prophesies of a Messiah that would come and “heal the broken-hearted, proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.” This verse is significant to them because of their own journeys of walking out deep inner healing in the midst of pain and brokenness.

Before getting married in their 40’s, both Holly and Brett spent many hidden years permitting Jesus to bring truth to the very core of their beings, (Psalms 51:6) and exposing the hidden lies that kept them enslaved (John 8:36). Overtime, the continued work of Christ’ transformation in their personal lives created an unquenchable burden to take part in the mission of the Messiah to bring healing to the brokenhearted and to set the captives free.

Every week they spend time on two campuses in northern Arizona in partnership with Chi Alpha Ministries. They also make time to invest at the University of Arizona where Brett served on Chi Alpha staff for fifteen years.

Their greatest joy is sharing the message of Jesus as the ultimate resource for the mending of the heart.

What Students & Supporters are Saying
  • Sydney
    University Student

"My whole life I dealt with a lot of self-hatred, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders, and alcohol abuse because of the emotional and verbal abuse from my mother.

Through the Restoring Wholeness course, God has brought so much healing and forgiveness for both me and my mom."

  • Marcus Hemington
    Monthly Supporter

"I love partnering with a ministry that focuses on helping people find their Christ given identity. The heart of the Father is that we know our REAL value and purpose. Sowing into this ministry is sowing into this ideal."

  • Kevin McFee
    Chi Alpha Campus Pastor

"Brett and Holly specialize in walking with students through the most difficult areas of their hearts. They do this with competency, compassion, gentleness and respect. Without exaggeration, they are the special forces-behind enemy lines kind of spiritual leaders my students need to help them confront their deepest struggles."
